Hi, I unpacked the tar.gz but can't get it to run on linux... am I missing something? Do I need some kind of amiga emulator?

When I try to execute it from command line, it replies "command not found".

Did you try sudo chmod +x Ambermoon.net? It sounds like Linux doesn’t recognize the executable as such. And no, you don’t need an Amiga emulator.

Yes, Ambermoon.net.

Permissions to execute are enabled, though, so I'm somewhat lost.

If it can help you with debugging, I'm running Mint 20.

I had tried a simple sudo and it didn't work, I'll see if chmod works.

I think I'll try to run the windows executable with WinE next.

Thank you!

for some reason the file didn't want to start by double clicking for me either (also Mint), but I opened a terminal in the folder and wrote ./Ambermoon.net to start it that way and it worked :)

Edit: I now read you already tried the command line, so maybe this was a different situation (or you forgot the ./ for executing it)

A simple ./Ambermoon.net should do the trick. Don’t forget the “./” at the beginning. If this still doesn’t work, let me know.

cool game

For me the game crashs on win 10 when trying to create a new game the second time. Most people may not even notice, but I was making a blank save to record the game. Deleting the saves or installing over don't work. I needed to unstall and install again.

Still, nice remake. I loved a ton about this game. There's a stiff curve to learn the basics, but I really dig this.

Hi Mangatom. Thank you for your feedback. Can you tell me exactly what you did in what order so I can reproduce and fix this? Thank you!

This happens for me too, on Ambermoon.net for Windows 8, 10, 11 (64bit).  It seems to happen when trying to start a new game in Ambermoon Advanced 0.0.1, when the previous game was also in Ambermoon Advanced 0.0.1.  Starting a new game in Ambermoon Original 1.12 still works, or deleting the ambermoon.cfg file also allows a new game to be started in Ambermoon Advanced 0.0.1.

When the previous game was in Ambermoon Original 1.12, I can start a new game in Ambermoon Advanced 0.0.1.  I compared the ambermoon.cfg files depending on which version was previously played, and it looks like the only difference is "GameVersionIndex": 3 for 0.0.1 vs. "GameVersionIndex": 1 for 1.12, everything else is identical.

Thanks for investigating this. I will have a look asap and work on a fix.

Should be fixed now in the most recent update. ;)

Thanks 12c for this. I was busy and didn't see Pyrdacor message. I didn't tried what 12c said, just tried to begin a new save and even outside my first choice (wich was advanced 0.0.1) the game crashed. I will try the newer version and see if this works for me. Thanks again guys!

Does the bundled version for Mac works on M1 notebooks? I just downloaded it and it says it's "damaged" and can't be opened. Thanks! the game looks gorgeous!

Hi there. This is a security mechanism of the Mac. You have to trust non-store apps somewhere in the settings and then Ctrl+Click and “Open”. Let me know if it works. Many Mac users had this issue but in the end it worked for all of them.

I am using Win7 64 and tried both 32bit and 64bit versions, and in both the game does not run.  A command window briefly appears and then nothing!  What version of OpenGL does this remake require?

Hi at least OpenGL 3.1. most of the times it is enough to update the video driver. You can start the game from a CMD window. Then you will see the error message. If nothing works, try to install glfw and/or OpenAL manually.

Gracias por las versiones 32bits

This remake does the original game justice and enhances it carefully in different aspects. The result is a much rounder, better balanced experience and an overall more accessible and better playable game. Having played the original some months ago I can clearly say that ambermoon.net in my opinion is a perfect remake of this classic game. Tremendous work!
